SPRAY FOAM INSULATION BENEFITS

AIR TIGHT BARRIER

Unlike fiberglass, spray foam leaves absolutely no gaps. Spray foam expands into even the tiniest crack, leaving air with nowhere to go. This air tight barrier plays a major role in the other benefits spray foam provides.

MOISTURE BARRIER

There is no better insulation material to prevent moisture than spray foam. Spray foam insulation treatment prevents mold and mildew and keeps your indoor space drier, healthier and more comfortable.

STRUCTURAL SUPPORT

The strength and structural integrity of a house depends largely on its frame. Most insulation does nothing to strengthen a building’s frame. Not the case with spray foam! When spray foam expands and settles into the floors and walls, it adds strength to the structure. Furthermore, it prevents damage to roofs and walls caused by moisture and excessive heat penetration.

AIR QUALITY

Pollen and other irritants infiltrate homes through air leaks in walls and attics. By insulating your exterior walls with spray foam, you virtually eliminate outdoor contaminants and maintain healthy and clean air quality indoors.

WATER RESISTANT

Simply stated, if your home floods, you will not have to replace the spray foam insulation. Unlike other insulation options, spray foam is completely waterproof. While other home owners will be ripping out and replacing their sopping wet insulation after a flood, you can feel great knowing your home’s insulation was not effected.

WORKS EVERYWHERE

Spray foam insulation is a great choice for homes and businesses. It can be used in the attic, on interior an exterior walls, and in the basement. It’s a great sound barrier when used on interior walls. Homes with multiple temperature zones greatly benefit from heat and cool loss when they use spray foam insulation on interior walls.

SPRAY FOAM OPTIONS

CLOSED CELL SPRAY FOAM

The most common type of spray foam insulation is Closed Cell. The measurement system for foam effectiveness at insulation is called an “R-Value.” The higher the R-Value, the better it is at insulating.  Closed cell spray foam has higher R-values than other types of foam (typically around 7.0 per inch). Closed cell spray foam is also more resistant to water penetration, moisture and humidity.

Closed cell spray foam insulation is our top choice for preventing drafts and maintaining desired indoor temperatures. When sprayed, the foam is dense and strong, which both insulates and strengthens the walls it is applied to.

OPEN CELL SPRAY FOAM

Open cell spray foam insulation is less common and its R-Value is not as high as closed cell foam, however open cell foam does have its benefits.  Open cell foam expands when sprayed far more than closed cell foam. This makes is a great choice for hard to reach places, including wall and ceiling cavities that can be difficult to seal with closed cell foam.  The insulation it provides is good, however it’s not as good as closed cell, and it is not completely resistant to vapor or water.

Another benefit of open cell foam insulation is cost. It is more affordable than closed cell foam. Before you base your decision on price, however, it’s important to evaluate the needs of your application to make sure the less expensive option will still achieve the desired results.
